Decide Which Niche To Conquer

Filed Under (niches marketing) by marketing-master on 07-08-2010

Before reading please take time to see if you need a new Flat House Share

By Russell Brunson

I’m sure that you’ve heard about how many start up companies fail when they first begin, and the reason that most (if not all) of their failures is because they don’t create a good fountain to build on.

If we start right, it is easy to go right all the time. But if we start wrong, it’s much harder to go back and get it right. So please pay close attention, get out your pen and pencil, and let’s get to work.

When you first start, you need to decide which niche are you going to conquer.

When I first started my online business, I made the same mistake that 99.9% of people make. I read an ebook about how to make money online, and I decided that I would…

can you guess…?

I wrote my own book about “how to make money.” I compiled all of the regurgitated information I could find, put a twist on it, and started to sell it. After 2 weeks and a little over $30 in sales I started to think:

“Why am I selling a book about how to make money… when I have NEVER in my life made any real money!?!”

You may laugh, but it took me a few weeks before I realized that there was a problem there. I decided to stop selling my book, and started to look for other ways to make money online. What I stumbled upon next really gets exciting.

I was going to college at the time, and my degree is in “Computer Information Systems.” I knew some things about programming, but not enough to create anything real. What I did know is where programmers spend their time online.

So I started visiting places where you could hire programmers and got to know a few. I then started to search for a market that needed something.

What I came upon was the “Resale Rights” market. Basically this was people buying and selling digital products (ebooks and software) that they could then go and sell to other people. This concept really excited me. I purchased a lot of these products, but struggled to sell them because all of the products had links back to the author’s websites.

These authors were making money every time I sold these products… on the backend. When I realized that, the first thing I thought was,

“I wish that had a way to brand all of these files with my own links.”

And there the idea was born. I just needed to create a product that would brand these “resale rights” products. I wouldn’t be competing directly with that market, but make a complementary product that would benefit them all.

I went back to the programmers that I had been building relationships with, and gave them my idea. Within a matter of weeks they created a product that is now known as Zip Brander. (You can see the product at www.ZipBrander.com)

I’m not going to go into how I marketed it in this lesson (I’ll save that for another day), but with the one product I made over $1,000 my first month with it, and it made us over $50,000 in 2004 alone.

Since then I’ve been able to branch out to a lot of various niches and have had amazing success in most of them. In other issues I will share exact case studies of these that you will be able to model in your businesses.

How To Pick The Right Niche

I want to show you now how to choose your niche. Just follow these 3 simple steps.

Step 1 - Do not choose the “how to make money” niche. I’m not sure why, but I made this mistake along with thousands of other people. This is the most competitive niche in the world. If you want to fight against the marketers, good luck. But there is a lot more money (and it’s made a lot easier) in the niches I’ll explain below.

Step 2 - Look at your personal talents, and start from there. I have had this conversation more then once - usually every time I discuss an online business with someone.

I ask them what their hobbies are that we could market, and they almost always they tell me that they don’t have anything they could sell. The problem is that people usually look at their current job, and can’t think of ways they can market that skill.

Don’t look at your current job, but look at what you do on your free time. The thing that is your passion. This is where you’ll find your niche.

Here are examples of the last 3 conversations I’ve had:

Friend #1 - works construction, and couldn’t think of a marketable skill. After 3 1/2 minutes realized that he has twin girls. Found there was a huge market for informational product in this niche and him and his wife are now working on their first product.

Friend #2 - works as a manager at Office Depot. One the weekends loves to shot guns with his dad. They are creating a software program that helps people to increase their accuracy when shooting. They are also creating video demonstrations on how to improve your accuracy.

Friend #3 - came to me asking for help promoting a “how to make money online” course. He had to call me using a video relay because he’s deaf. I told him that he was going in the wrong direction with what he was promoting. He had no experience making money online. I asked him what his hobbies were, and surely enough told me he didn’t have any that he could sell. Before I even asked that question I knew what his niche was. He’s been speaking through sign language his whole life, and there are thousands of people searching every month on how to learn sign language.

What do you do in your free time when no one else is around? Are you good at video games? Are you a good cook? Do you play any sports? Do you throw dinner parties? Do you collect anything? Can you play an instrument? What is your passion? When you can answer this… then you know what your niche is.

Step 3 - Research your market. Don’t worry - this part isn’t nearly as hard as you’d think. Within about 5 minutes I can usually tell if a niche is worth looking at. There are 3 things you need to do, and you’ll know if it’s the right niche.

First - Check out the search engines. There are a lot more advanced tools then this, but this one is completely free to use. Go to http://inventory.overture.com and type in your niche. This will show you how many times that word was searched for that month on their search engine. If there are a lot of people searching for it each money, the it’s likely a good niche.

Second - Search for online communities related to your niche. People with similar interests migrate to the same places online. Wrestlers hang out at wrestling forums, poets hang out in poetry message boards, etc Go to www.google.com and type in “________ forums” or “_________ message board” or “_______ groups” (put your niche in the blank). Visit these forums and see if they are active and how many members they have. You can often find forums with 10,000+ members in it. If you find good communities focused around your niche, then this is another good sign.

Third - Search for similar products. If you can find others selling products in your niche, then it’s usually a good sign that there’s some life there. Purchase their products and get to know your competition (because they are going to become your JV partners in another lesson).

After getting this far, you should have a good idea about which niche you would like to conquer, as well as some idea about if it is a profitable niche.

In the next lesson we are going to discuss how you can turn those talents into a product. Product creation is one of the most exciting parts of the game for me, so look out for that lesson coming soon.

Maybe you or your Roommate / Flatmate could do a joint venture!

Drilling Straight Down A Niche Market

Filed Under (niches marketing) by marketing-master on 11-05-2010

Obtaining lucrative niches can be challenging. Acquiring one that isn’t very saturated is usually intimidating when you’re just starting out as an Internet marketer. The key to finding niches that are both worthwhile and have little competition is drilling down a top-level specialized niche to come across cost-effective sub-niches with fewer competitors.

For example, let’s say you’re interested in creating a site that has to do with beauty. It is possible to drill the beauty category down into a number of different sub-categories. You could opt for hair care, skin care, fitness, organic beauty, cosmetics, or any number of niches related to beauty.

But these groups are even now too broad to be cost-effective with small numbers of visitors. You should drill lower further. Let’s say you choose to tackle the skin care demographic. Sub-categories of skin care may possibly consist of eczema, acne, blackheads, wrinkles, age spots, psoriasis, and dry skin.

Now you’ve a list of smaller niches that you can begin to narrow down. Acne may possibly even now be too broad. You are able to drill down even additional by targeting teenage acne, infant acne, and adult acne.

Whilst you would like to come across niches which can be narrow enough for you to dominate, you don’t want to pick niches that have too little traffic available. Really don’t be afraid to spy on your competitors.

Go to your favorite research engine, like Google, and search for points like “how to get rid of acne.” This is obviously a area of interest desperately seeking a solution. If you drill down as well much, like targeting “blackheads,” you may possibly locate it’s an annoyance, but maybe not something individuals are desperate enough to spend money solving.

You ought to verify that your thought gets a decent level of search volume by working with a keyword tool like WordTracker or Google Keyword External. Whenever you take a look for the niche on Google, see if you’ll find lots of AdWords ads on the right sidebar of the screen.

If so, this means men and women are earning cash in this specialized niche. Any time you’ll be able to come up with an original slant on an idea that’s already churning profits on-line, you’re poised for instant success.

In case you really want to get into the eBay niche, don’t go after a broad, eBay for beginners specialized niche. Target something unique for example “eBay Companies for Baby Boomers.” Pick a specific target audience and then cater to their needs instead of approaching the mass public with a broad idea.

I do hope you get a lot out of this article, If you want more affiliate marketing training please check out my buddy blog. If you likes this article I also write on a couple of other websites Random but interesting. One is focused on removing mold and another again rather niche focused body lotions. I know that if they are anything that interest you you’ll like the sites.

Totally Free Advertising And Marketing Training - The Best Way To Pick Your Most Suitable Niche Marketplace

Filed Under (niches marketing) by marketing-master on 13-03-2010

Selecting a market industry or perhaps a target market is the 1st action you need to consider when you decide to current market around the world wide web, nevertheless it is the hardest thing for new folks to try and do occasionally. I remember when I 1st decided to truly discover this world wide web advertising stuff, I had been stuck on trying to pick a area of interest for that first few months.

I found lots of info for the topic but it was all vague to me. I place this training together to ensure that hopefully it will not consider you as long to choose your very first target market. The initial issue you choose to try and do is make 3 lists:

-Your Interests-

Your Abilities. Everyone has some abilities - some individuals have additional, some people less, but everyone is an specialist or a minimum of close-to-expert in some area.

-Your Knowledge-

When I initial did this I was jumping from 1 factor to one more. I didn’t get very much accomplished because I had been all over the place attempting to try and do everything. I’d about a dozen distinct email lists having a couple of subscribers on each and every list. In hindsight I realized that circle promoting was the excellent niche current market for me.

When I first started out studying this web advertising things I hated network marketing, so it didn’t even cross my thoughts. I had invested the last handful of years of my lifetime likely to all with the trainings, buying and studying all with the money making ebooks and courses, and studying everything I could about the subject of network advertising.

On top of that I’d sponsored above 150 individuals in that last multi-level marketing company. I also realized that most community marketing distributors struggle to sponsor even one person. So this was the perfect area of interest market for me.

Right here are three symptoms that you have discovered your best market industry.

1. You have a good deal in common together with your focus on market and it can be easy to suit your needs to relate to them.
2. Your aim for market spends lots of cash around the things that they like. It also helps if you like the same things.
3. You might have plenty of know-how around the topic and it is quick for you personally to develop written content.

Yet another excellent issue concerning the net is that it is cheap and quick to start a new companies. That implies you can ultimately get into as several niches as you desire, but choose only a single market and concentrate on that 1 target market in the beginning. It is going to be easier to discover this net marketing and advertising things if you are working within your best area of interest marketplace.

Niche Marketing With Private Label Rights

Filed Under (niches marketing) by marketing-master on 05-03-2010

Hi there. Got a minute? I’d like to show you how to start your niche marketing business FAST (and easy) with PLR products. This will not be a full course on niche marketing, but instead I’ll give you a rough outline and then show you how to get started fast with private label rights. Ready? Excellent. Let’s go.

First of all let’s get the obvious out of the way while not leaving anyone behind. Niche marketing is marketing products in tightly focused areas of interest, and preferrably something that gets a lot of search activity as people are looking for solutions to a problem (so they will gladly pay for a solution). On that note, let’s move on.

You should spend a lot of time on research. You must find a market that is actively searching for a solution. To create a product and then go looking for a market could (and likely will) go horribly wrong. If no one is searching for what you have to offer you are not likely to make any money. Don’t waste your time. Find a hungry market and feed them.

How do you find a hungry market? That’s easy. Keyword research. Using Google’s free keyword tool you can brainstorm general topics and note the phrases that people are typing into the search engines around this topic. The Google Wonder Wheel is also lots of fun to play with for this as well. Not sure what that is? Google it. You’ll see.

Now, once you’ve done your homework and found your market you’re going to have to find or create something to offer them. Your choices range from creating a site loaded with relevant and monetizing with Adsense and or CPA offers to affiliate marketing to creating your own product to sell.

I can almost hear you thinking “Wait, didn’t you say this was fast and easy? Yes I did, but this part isn’t. The easy way to do all of the above is obviously to get someone else to do it for you. It has to be done, and someone has to do it. But, it doesn’t have to be YOU.

This is where I would tell you to hire a ghost writer or programmer to create your product … if it wasn’t so darned expensive. No, that’s not the right way to go on a tight budget, so that’s not what I’m saying either.

This is the key to getting started fast and in the easiest possible way with niche marketing –> join a GOOD PLR membership site.

Private label rights grant you the right to put your name (or any name) on a product someone else created and sell it as your own so you don’t have to share the profits. You can also list your new product with a service like Clickbank and recruit an army of affiliates to promote your product for you.

The key to success here is to start with a good (and I mean REALLY good) PLR membership. The best of the best do all of the hard, boring work mentioned above to find niche markets that are actively seeking solutions. Then they create products to feed that market. Niches - The Path To More Profits

Filed Under (niches marketing) by marketing-master on 30-01-2010

Hey, as business owners we CAN’T be all things for all customers. I mean it would be fantastic if we could, however, you just can’t meet the needs and wants of everyone, you would run yourself ragged trying :

BUT … that doesn’t mean you throw your hands up in despair and give up ;o) Stick with me for a few minutes and we’ll go over a few ideas that come to mind and see if they get your creative juices flowing.

Firstly, what the heck is a “Niche” anyway?? I mean I am sure you have seen the word flying around the Internet and a lot more lately. You’ve seen newsletter articles and email letters from some of the top guru’s now sprouting “Niche” as the new “catch” word of the time.

The term is NOT NEW. Basically a “niche” is finding a specific target market and catering to their specific wants and needs.

Ummm let me give you an example…

As a marketing coach/consultant my business is providing a service ‘marketing” to businesses. Now obviously the business arena is too general so what I want to do is break it down into bite size sectors or smaller target markets. I may want to deal specifically to the needs and wants of Dental Offices and decide to specialize in Dental Office Marketing. I could take on the legal sector and specialize in marketing legal practices.

Get where I am going here??

I can’t be all things to all businesses out there, so I break the business sector down into target markets and the find the ones that I want to specialize in and cater to that group specifically.

Now, you may be thinking ok, that’s good for you being a marketing coach, but I am an affiliate for a program…how does “niche marketing” affect me?

Glad you asked ;o)

When people first come online with the desire to start some sort of business they typically go into the “emarketing” niche and promote products/services with a marketing theme. It makes sense from a marketing point of view, you go where there is demand.

However, with demand also comes competition and the “online marketing” arena is saturated and highly competitive.

So…what do you do?

Well, what you need to do is sit and think of markets outside of the “online marketing” arena which could also use your products/ services and target your messages specifically to them.

Umm I feel an example coming on here…ah ok, here is one for you.

Lets say you are an affiliate for an autoresponder service. Excellent service because you know that anyone who starts a business online needs an autoresponder. While that is great, what isn’t so hot is the fact that you are not the only autoresponder service in cyber-land and they too are targeting the same niche you are.

But…the difference between you and them is this article ;o)

See, we all go for the obvious niche or target market when we sign onto an affiliate program. We go after the others just like us and market to them. What we fail to do is find the OTHER niches or target markets out there that haven’t heard of an autoresponder and have no idea what it is let alone how much time we can save them.

I am thinking about niches like, oh…perhaps Real Estate Agents. A few friends are in the market for a new house. Every week they get in the mail (snail mail) the new listing sheets for all the houses listed that week. The idea is that they go through these sheets and see if any of the houses peak their interest and then they are to call their Agent and ask to view them.

It was an ok system, but imagines how much time and MONEY a Real Estate Agent could save if they had an autoresponder service?

All they would have to do is create the new listing templates, enter the email address and names of their client base (even that is automated) and blast out the new listings once a week, or more often if they wanted to. No more printing costs and gone are the mailing costs and the time factor you have saved them is PRICELESS!

See the potential here???

Are you beginning to get the idea about finding other market segments (customers) for your products/services??

If you are an affiliate for an autoresponder service you could promote autoresponders to Dental Offices. They send out appointment reminder cards…imagine the cost savings for them if they had an autoresponder service, not to mention the time savings of having staff to stick labels and post them out??

It is just a matter of seeing what they do and how your service can save them the time and money. AND…the best part about this thinking is that not many take on this sort of business stance.

Now let’s get away from the “online marketing niche” for a second and think of other ways of creating profit through niches.

Another thing is to look to your hobbies and interests.

Lets say you dabble at DJing on the weekends as a hobby. With that very hobby you could create profit by creating a little niche site geared towards DJing. Your site could focus on showing someone how to break into the weekend DJ business and provide sites that offer good DJ equipment (that you are affiliated with of course).

The idea about NICHE Marketing is that you DON’T have to stick within the “Online Marketing” niche. You can find a niche based on an affiliate program, a hobby or a special interest.

Some of the top marketers have found other niches like; stop smoking, weight loss, online dating, model trains, travel, golf and yup even cooking.

Don’t limit yourself to the niche of online marketing. Step out and find other market segments that are not being served or where there is limited competition and build your niches around those. It’s like taking a path of least resistance and a path to more profits!
